The Kensington underground gold mine and associated milling facilities are located in the remote Berners Bay Mining District, about 45 miles northwest of Juneau. The site, which is only accessible by water or air, had two failing stream crossings in need of replacement.

AIL Mining recently put the move on to ready 18 Bolt-A-Bin Abutment Systems and 15 tractor-trailer loads of Corrugated Steel Pipe (CSP) to ocean-ship to the far northern reaches of Nunavut.

AIL Mining was pleased to have been a project partner with Minera Escondida in Chilé for the design and supply of nine heavy haul road conveyor tunnels. The multi-year deal was divided into two phases with five tunnels in one phase and four in the next.

AIL Mining is proud to have been selected by one of the world’s largest steel producers to design, fabricate and supply a large Vehicular Truss Bridge for one of their mining operations in Liberia, West Africa. The new crossing was needed to improve road traffic safety over a broad rail/road/utility mine access corridor.

AIL Mining was recently involved in a multi-party effort for the Design Build of a new primary crusher dump wall for Pattison Sand Company in Iowa. The Pattison Sand Company produces incredibly pure and extremely clean quartz sand used by the oil and natural gas industries. Its underground mining facilities are state-of-the-art, and its land reclamation program is a model for the industry. Pattison's sand products are some of the highest quality available. Twin Super•Cor conveyor crossings adapt to BC copper mine's needs
As part of a major upgrade for Teck Highland Valley Copper Operations, the largest open pit copper mine in Canada, a new haul road needed to cross two operating conveyor lines. The owner, Teck Resources Limited, needed a safe, reliable and cost-effective solution from a supplier that was capable of adapting to unique situations. A pair of Super•Cor Tunnels with Vist-A-Wall Headwalls, and the experience of the AIL Mining team, met the requirements.

2014-00404 Wissler Run Bridge - Drumore, PA 007  Prefabricated Bridge provides heavy duty access to LNG gate station in PA
A major energy infrastructure company needed a permanent bridge constructed over a stream crossing to gain access to a liquified natural gas (LNG) gate station for the installation of two-way piping beneath the Susquehanna River in Drumore, PA. Their project partner, Pinnacle Design/Build (PDB), recommended a heavy-duty Big R Modular Bridge from AIL Mining.

Wyoming coal mine’s own crew builds big crossing

The Cordero Rojo Mine is located approximately 25 miles south of Gillette, Wyoming. In 2012, the mine extracted and shipped about 39.2 million tons of low-sulfur coal, primarily to electric utilities in the west, midwest and southeast US. When the mine needed a structural plate crossing (one of the State’s largest), Big R was selected to design and manufacture a Super•Cor Arch with Vist-A-Wall Headwalls and Wingwalls.

AIL designs and supplies Quebec’s largest wire-faced crusher wall

Cliffs Natural Resources is a major global iron ore and coal producer with significant operations in Canada. As part of their Bloom Lake Phase II expansion project to double the iron ore mine’s annual capacity to 16 million tons, AIL was contracted to design and supply a large crusher wall. In fact, it is the largest wire-faced crusher wall in the province of Quebec.

AIL’s largest plate structure to date, installed in Canada’s largest gold mine

A U-shaped layout of two combined Super•Cor stockpile tunnels made a little AIL MINING history last year. This was the largest plate job ever sold within The AIL Group of Companies and, fittingly, it was for Canada’s largest gold mine — Detour Lake.
